Let It Go.
A simple way to decide what needs your attention, what can wait, and when to give yourself a break.
Ever been lying in bed, remembered something you haven’t done, and suddenly felt like you needed to jump up and handle it?
Just because you remembered it doesn’t mean it’s an emergency. Before you jump up, try this.
What’s on your mind?
Think of one unfinished task that’s making it hard to relax.
Does it actually need your attention right now?
Ask yourself:
- Is there a real deadline or consequence if I don’t handle this now?
- Or am I just uncomfortable leaving it unfinished?
If it genuinely needs attention, take care of what’s necessary. If it can wait, keep going.
Give it a place to land.
You don’t have to keep mentally carrying it around all day.
Decide when you’ll come back to it.
Do something for yourself anyway.
You don’t have to earn a break by finishing everything first.
Stay in bed a little longer. Enjoy your coffee. Step outside. Sit quietly for ten minutes.
An unfinished task is not automatically an urgent task.
You can take care of yourself before everything is done.
